Just the other day I was reflecting on the decisions that I have made in life regarding my path as a pastor. I wonder what would have happened if I had taken the path of a computer scientist instead of obeying the call of God. Would my life had been different? would I have met the wonderful people I am dealing with today? would I have been happier? This reminds me of Robert Frost’s poem of the road not taken:

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

As I thought about this, I also remember that life is full of decisions, and we are resposible for whatever decisions we make. However, if those decisions are under the will of God, He will determine the end result ; as stated in Romans 8: 28 :

“And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose. “

We may make the decision, but the end result belongs to the Lord.

What do you think?

A pastor once said that the greatest message he ever preached, was in the car between his house and the church. The greatest time of revival he has experienced is in the bathroom when he was singing worship songs in the shower. In otherwords, the best time of personal revival can be those unplanned times when you are alone with the Lord. I believe that because I know the Lord loves those personal times with him. Although,we need to set apart time to meet with God; but sometimes the best time to meet with God are those spontaneous times in His presence. What do you think?

A friend asked me an important question recently; he said “if prayer is vital to our Christian walk, why is it so difficult to do? I know it is supposed to be a conversation with God, but why do people find it difficult to pray?” A brother once told me that he can present everything he wants to say to God in three minutes and still have more time to spare. This brother has been a Christian for a couple of years. I know prayer can be a difficult and sometimes tedious art; but I am sure an intimate relationship with the Lord as well as a strong devotional life, makes it easier to pray. What do you think? Why is prayer so difficult to do?

There are times when God is willing to do something in our lives, but we refuse to let go of our past. The truth is God cannot truly answer our prayers if we are still holding on to the root cause of our pain. Give it all to God and let Him do wonders in your lives. Is there something you are holding on to right now…pain, betrayal, rough experiences, grudge against someone, etc? Give it all to the Lord and let Him handle it. Are you holding unto something right now; let’s talk about it.
